This segment of the film is entitled “Tes père et mère honoreras” (“Honour thy father and thy mother”). Pierre learns from his father that the woman he has always known as his mother is in fact his stepmother. His biological mother is a well-known actress called Clarisse Ardan. He goes to the Sarah-Bernhardt Theatre where she is rehearsing the part of Katherine in The Taming of the Shrew. In front of the theatre entrance and in the entrance hall, there are several big placards which all read "Sarah-Bernhardt – Prochainement – Clarisse Ardan dans La Mégère apprivoisée." He enters and finds the company rehearsing Act 2, Scene 1.

On the wall behind them, there is a poster of the production of The Taming of the Shrew with Clarisse Ardan which appeared before in the segment called “Tes père et mère tu honoreras” (“Honour thy father and thy mother”).
