At the beginning of the wedding banquet, Valentine is looking for her seat. She picks a place card next to an English lady, and reads:

VALENTINE: Kenneth Branagh?

THE ENGLISH AUNT: Yes! Poor Kenneth, his flight was delayed, bloody French strikes!* But he’ll be here around eleven, midnight at the latest. Do you know him?

VALENTINE: Do I know him? He’s my favorite actor and writer, I’ve seen all his films, he’s a genius!

THE ENGLISH AUNT: Darling, Kenneth will be so delighted to meet you!*

VALENTINE: Me too, I’d be thrilled to meet him!

(Valentine leaves the table. Cut to the bathroom, where Valentine is standing in front of the mirror, rehearsing what she intends to say to Kenneth Branagh)

VALENTINE: I have seen all your films: Peter’s Friend, Dead Again, er, Shakespeare, and um, I sink you are a total hartist, and a, um, a genioos,* and, er, do you speak French? You speak French divinely! Clearly there’s nothing you can’t do!

(Hugo enters the bathroom)

HUGO: What are you doing? You look weird.

VALENTINE: Well, I was masturbating but you didn't let me finish.

Langue de la citation/référence dans le film : anglais

Au début du repas de mariage, Valentine cherche sa place à table. Elle attrape un porte-nom à côté d’une Anglaise et lit :

VALENTINE : Kenneth Branagh ?

THE ENGLISH AUNT : Yes! Poor Kenneth, his flight was delayed, bloody French strikes !* Mais il arrivera vers 11h, maximum minuit. Vous le connaissez ?

VALENTINE : Mais si je le connais ? C’est mon acteur et mon auteur préféré, j’ai vu tous ses films, c’est un génie !

THE ENGLISH AUNT : Darling, Kenneth will be so delighted to meet you !*

VALENTINE : I have seen all your films: Peter’s Friend, Dead Again, er, Shakespeare, and um, I sink you are a total hartist, and a, um, a genioos,* ah mais vous parlez français ? Mais vous parlez divinement français ! Mais décidément vous avez toutes les qualités !

(Hugo entre)

HUGO : Qu’est-ce que tu fais, t’as l’air bizarre ?

VALENTINE : Bah, je me masturbais, tu m’as pas laissé finir.
