English Synopsis

Anne (Juliette Binoche), nicknamed Nina, leaves Toulouse on her eighteenth birthday to move to Paris and try her hand at acting. She lands a small role as a maid in a mediocre “boulevard” comedy (Thé ou chocolat?, or Tea or Hot Chocolate?). Tired of living with her numerous successive lovers, she goes to a real estate agency, where she meets Paulot (Wadeck Stanczak), who falls in love with her. He invites her home with him and introduces her to his roommate, Quentin (Lambert Wilson), a young man who is visibly depressed and also instantly attracted to Nina.

Anne (Juliette Binoche), surnommée Nina, quitte Toulouse le jour de ses 18 ans pour monter à Paris et tenter sa chance comme comédienne. Elle décroche un tout petit rôle de bonniche dans une pièce de boulevard médiocre (Thé ou Chocolat ?). Lassée d’être logée chez ses (nombreux) amants successifs, elle se rend dans une agence immobilière, où elle rencontre Paulot (Wadeck Stanczak), qui tombe amoureux d’elle. Il l’invite chez lui, et lui présente son colocataire, Quentin (Lambert Wilson), un jeune homme visiblement torturé, qui est aussi instantanément attiré par Nina.
